Portion starting point

Estimate a group order,
then check the menu.

Choose a sharing format and group size. The result is a conservative discussion range, not a restaurant portion guarantee.

How the range is calculated

Children count as half an adult equivalent. A standard starting point is roughly one large pizza for every 2.5 people, three chicken pieces per person or 350 grams of uncooked braai meat per adult equivalent. Light and hungry settings reduce or increase that starting point.

Those assumptions are deliberately visible because restaurant sizes differ. A large pizza, chicken piece or platter is not a universal unit.

Worked group check

For six adults and four children, the calculator treats the group as eight adult equivalents. Add sides and drinks separately, ask whether the restaurant's platter weight is cooked or uncooked, and keep dietary orders outside the shared estimate.
